Orange Shirt Day, or National Day of Remembrance for US Boarding Schools and National Day of Truth & Reconciliation, began in Canada as a day to bring attention to the damage the residential school system did to Indigenous children, lifeways, and cultures.

Learn more about Orange Shirt Day here or take action with us by elevating attending – or organizing – an Orange Shirt Day event in your community.  The Alaska Children’s Trust is offering mini-grants (up to $300) to individuals and organizations to support your efforts to bring Orange Shirt Day events to your community.  Funding can be used for supplies, snacks, and more!  Apply here by September 23rd.
